Strange and twisted tales - The Hot Cauldron II by Lachelle Redd

Published: October 10th, 2014

Description:

The author’s job is to keep you glued to the page with anticipation and hopes that your character can survive the circumstances placed upon them.

In this, the second entry into the Hot Cauldron series, Lachelle paints vivid worlds where success is not always what it seems, monsters protect the just, and innocence carries a harsh sentence. In this book, the killer is next door and the victim just a breath away. With stories ranging from mythical beasts to ghost tales and even a dark rendition of a beloved fairy tale, Lachelle stretches her wings like never before and draws you in and keeps you wanting more.

Characters include a disgruntled spouse with holiday plans that include an appetizer for murder. Then there is the young teen shuffled between two dysfunctional parents and the tragic end that brings their past sin to life. In addition, the tale of an ancient evil that claims the lives of two young lovers sends a small town into a panic. However, when a group of local hunters ban together to eradicate the evil, they find they are ill equipped to deal with the demon that hunts from within the Eden Tree.

Lachelle stretches the imagination and brings to light new terrors of the dark and daylight. So grab a seat, the cauldron is always on.

An anthology of short stories ranging from suspense to fantasy to horror. A little something for everyone and a little terror from everything. From a spurned ex beauty queen, to a 9 to 5 grim reaper, a wedding night from hell and a marriage steeped in horror. So come on in the cauldron's waiting.

This collection of short stories is really good. There are ghosts, witches, curses and werewolves. A lot of the stories are very short but they are all very compelling and intriguing. The tone of the stories is at times sad and poignant and at other times creepy and filled with dread. The pacing of each story is really good. I thought they were all well-written. The characters in each story are very interesting. - Goodreads

I really enjoyed reading this collection of short stories. Each story though short, had me connecting to the main characters, and the storyline. Each story had its own unique flavor and tone. What I really liked was each story made for a good quick read between wash loads or waiting at a Doctors office. This author really can weave a good story. I expect more good reads from her. - Goodreads
